Tech Talk: Music streaming platform Deezer drops country selector feature

Gospel in Brazil, Grime in England, Schlager in Germany, Banda in Mexico… every country has its own signature sound. But what if your taste is different to what the locals are jamming to?

It doesn’t matter if you’re an expat missing home or love a culture that’s not your own. Our new “Country Selector” feature lets you switch your music and shows tabs to a location of your choice. Within seconds, you’ll instantly get transported and have access to local artist tracks, curated playlists, charts, and shows. So, if you’re curious about life on the other side of the ocean, “Country Selector” lets you hear what the locals are digging without stepping out of the front door.

Remember, you can always switch between countries if you change your mind (or location)! You’ll get great local shows too, so you can go from French podcasts one day, to German tunes the next. The world is quite literally your oyster. All you need to do is choose “Country Selector” in your Settings and pick any homeland that you like. Language preferences remain the same each time a user selects a different country.

“We want our listeners to be able to hold onto a piece of their home or immerse themselves in a different culture, even if they’re a thousand miles away. It’s also a good way to pick up a new language, as our curated playlists and channels will introduce you to the best selection of tracks from any chosen country,” noted Stefan Tweraser, Deezer’s Chief Product and Growth Officer.

Deezer’s Country Selector is available from today and available worldwide across web and mobile devices. Head to your Settings to make the switch.
