Students Denied Clearance to join Kenya School Of Law Sue CLE

Symbol of law and justice in the empty courtroom law and justice concept blue toned.

The Council for Legal Education (CLE) has been sued for declining to clear students who qualified from Uganda Pentecostal University UPU) with law degrees to join Kenya School of Law (KSL).

The students claim that they made their application to the Council as required by law, but the same has not been responded to, for them to meet the deadline of joining the advocate training program for 2017/18 academic year.

The aggrieved students through lawyer Steven Nzaku told Justice George Odunga that their explanation has been given explaining why their application has been declined.

The lawyer told the court that the students; Monica Wamboi Nganga, Martha Muthoni, Lewis Kariuki Muriithi, Caroline Ayuma Angote, Peter Mbabazi Tiba and Emmanuel Omondi are all qualified LLB degree holders from the University.

Nzaku sought to stop Kenya School of law from admitting other students until the court makes a determination on the matter.

He said the new regulations relied upon by KSL and CLE in admitting the students were not in place when they joined the University for the study of the law degree course.

Justice Odunga directed that the application is served upon KSL and CLE to enable the court to interrogate the response before making any orders or directions on the case.
