Strathmore Students unveil app to ease access to law content

strath app

Strathmore University students have developed an app that will allow Law Students and Lawyers to access the Kenyan Constitution, Case Laws and the Kenyan Gazette through their mobile phones and tablets. Through a Memorandum of Understanding between Kenya Law Reports, Strathmore University and Samsung Electronics, the law content will be accessed solely through the Samsung app store.

Confirming the plans, Samsung Electronics East Africa, Chief Operating Officer  Robert Ngeru confirmed the partnership,  “At Samsung, our core business is enabling platforms for apps and technology solutions development, but we still rely on different stakeholders to provide content; hence our interest in training and nurturing Strathmore iLab Africa students to come up with applications that run on the Android platform, as well as carry out research in technology trends across Africa.”

The partnership outlines a framework for Kenya Law Reports to tap into Samsung’s innovative digital convergence technologies to enhance its process efficiencies, and ultimately, create a world-class educational environment for the Law professional. The collaboration between Samsung and the industry stakeholders is also geared at boosting local technology entrepreneurship prospects. Samsung Electronics East Africa will continue providing supports to local developers to enable them commercially deploy their applications on the popular Android platform.

“Our support will involve hosting commercially viable applications covering a wide range of categories on the Samsung Apps Store, which comes as a standard feature on all Samsung Smartphones. Apps offered for sale at the Samsung Apps store are priced in the local currency”. concluded Ngeru

The Samsung App store, is accessed by millions of mobile phone subscribers’ globally seeking to download quality android applications in diverse categories such as Entertainment, Education, Games, Lifestyle, Travel and Productivity among others. Kenyan Application developers on the Android platform therefore, have equal access to other global developers to showcase their solutions on the Samsung Apps store which is a gateway to global tech-preneurship
