St. Paul’s University held its 22nd Ceremony at its Main Campus in Limuru. Midway through the ceremony security officers informed us of a suspected security threat and ordered an evacuation of all people present from the graduation square.
The ceremony was interrupted for half an hour during which the police combed the graduation square and re- screened everybody present. The Security officers cleared the threat and the ceremony resumed. The government deployed more armed security officers to reinforce security and the event ended well. Tight Security has been enforced at the university since Thursday in the run up to the ceremony with collaboration with the Kenya Police Service.
The gathering was addressed by Chief Guest Prof Jacob Kaimenyi, Cabinet Secretary for Education. Later the Chancellor of the University Hon. Dr. Samuel Kobia conferred the degrees, diplomas and certificates. We appreciate the support we have received from the security officers who we have collaborated with us in the security of this event. May God bless us all
