One of Africa’s best stage performers and BET Award winner Sho Madjozi is set to return to Nairobi this September.
The 27-year-old South African rapper, singer, actress and poet will be performing at Delta Towers on 1st of September 2019.
Madjozi will hit the Thrift Social stage alongside the come-back king Nyashinski, Chris Kaiga and Alec Lomami. The night is themed as ‘Kenya Night’ and it is a perfect display of art, music and fashion. DJs on the bill include Fully Focus and Mixmaster Lenny.
Madjozi has been making headlines for the last two weeks after she released her latest single ‘John Cena’. The jam pays homage to the legendary wrestler John Cena and the icing on the cake is that she delivered in Swahili, transcending cultures.
The jam is getting massive airplay, innumerable social media posts home and abroad, plus stylish ‘Vosho’ dance covers. It was released on the famed ‘A Colors Show’ Youtube page.
As reported by The Sauce, she recently became the fourth South African artist to win a B.E.T award for Best New International Act and the superstar made history as the first female South African artist to win a BET. She also got recognition as the Female Artist of The Year award at the South African Music Awards, the country’s equivalent of the Grammys in June 2019.
This is not the first time that the ‘Wakanda Forever’ hitmaker has wowed fans from East Africa with her grasp of Swahili in her music despite being South African. She is acclaimed in East Africa for her hit song ‘Huku’ which was released in May 2018.
Madjozi was in Kenya earlier in the year for the Africa Nouveau Festival.
