Sorry Wavinya Ndeti, “I Just Had To Do It” For The Tube Says Comedian

Based on Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Wavinya Ndeti’s slip of the tongue, a young innovative artist MC Njagi did a parody dedicated to the popular female politician.

 

 

The Member of Parliament for Kathiani was caught up in media commentary on her poor knowledge on common Kiswahili phrases, making headlines in early July 2017. Now thanks to Youtube talent MC Njagi, the misspoken phrase caught on camera has been adequately addressed. The Meru-based comedian not only the misspoken proverb but also current affairs including food insecurity that has hit the country in the recent past. Much to the comedian’s surprise, the video posted on Youtube has gained lots of traction, gaining over 28,000 views online.

Focusing most of his comedic skits on local topical subject matter, MC Njagi has even appeared on the popular comedy television show Churchill LIVE.  Speaking to Capital Campus, MC Njagi said he chose to focus his popular act on Wavinya Ndeti “because it needed to be done.” The Youtube talent capitalized on a gap and now is a trending online. Appearing on the scene over a year ago, his rise has been gradual. Much like popular acts like Kajairo and Eric Omondi, MC Njagi could find popularity with the Kenyan audience. Will he transition onto television from Youtube? It is difficult to tell what is next for MC Njagi but we will be watching.
