Sociology student wins KU chapter of Samsung’s Ziki Star search

A first year Sociology student emerged top thrashing over three hundred students  to earn a slot in the grand finale during the first leg of the Samsung Ziki Stars tour held at Kenyatta University.

 

“I worked hard during the auditions and chose the best song that brought out my vocal prowess. I want to thank Samsung for this great initiative-Ziki Stars  that uncovers genuine and fresh music talent. I am looking forward to the grand finale and ultimately to win the ZiKi Stars,” said Lensa Alila , finalist – Kenyatta University Leg.

 

This year’s edition will see the winner take home a fully sponsored single and one video courtesy of Love Child Records under the mentorship of Kevin Wyre who is the Samsung’s Brand Ambassador.

 

Speaking at the Kenyatta University auditions Samsung Marketing Director, Patricia Kingori said,  “Samsung Ziki Stars is finding its place as the  one of the leading and most engaging youthful talent search .We are slowly and steadily growing in scope and scale in delivering authentic musical talent in the country’s entertainment platform.”

Samsung Ziki Star which was inaugurated in 2011, saw Lyra Aoko emerge winner of the competition. As winner of the Samsung Ziki Stars she debuted the music scene with a Wyre collabo called “Happy” which has propelled her musical career. Lyra’s career looks promising as she has already worked with leading artists J ’Mani and Collo –“Radio Love” and Nick Mutuma –“254 Anthem”

 

A total of three contestants will perform at the grand finale after the completion of auditions, held across three universities. The grand finale will be held at Skyluxx on the 13th April 2013 and will be staged hot on the heels of the recent confirmation that Universal Music Kleek app will now be available on the Samsung App Store – providing advanced access to music and interviews with artistes.

The Kleek application will be exclusive to Samsung consumers for the first 2 years, giving consumers a head start on the latest and greatest that the music industry has to offer.

The Samsung Galaxy Music runs on the latest operating platform, Android 4.0 (Ice-Cream Sandwich) and boasts some serious features that will make any music mad consumer want to own it.
