This month has been a busy one for Kenya’s biggest names in music.
1.Chris Kaiga- Hizi Bundas
Chris Kaiga has been on a high. From performing on the 26th edition of Koroga Festival in July 2019 to a new major release. ‘Hizi Bundas’ is a mood, and a must-watch for anyone who is enjoying the gengetone wave taking over the local music scene. The track is mixed and mastered by production expert Jaaz Odongo.
2. Naiboi – Sondeka (Part 2)
Naiboi teamed up with ExRay, Kristof, Fena Gitu, Benzema, Femi One, Mordecai, V6 and Khaligraph Jones. The All-Star crew add their own individual flavor to the track. The release is a follow up to the Sondeka two-part release. The first ‘Sondeka‘ was a solo effort, which was released on August 13th and received more than 100K views. The second garnered more than 250K views on YouTube, trending days after its release. According to Naiboi, he is set to do more with the ‘Sondeka’ beat. He wrote, “Part 3 is on the way !! Thank you for the support guys much love and appreciation from A Naiboi.”
3. NellytheGoon, Benzema, Dmore- Mbingijii imekulwa na ndogi
The winning combi is back, this time immortalizing a viral incident with an entertaining track. Proving that they can make music out of almost anything, the collaborators explained, “Mbigijii imekulwa na ndogii” is the new word on the streets termed by a kid from Meru who we Celebrate today. Her accent and voice is wonderful and she deserves recognition at her young age so that her future is reserved in Kenya’s archives.” They went on to point out they are not motivated by money, referencing the poor KFCB payout and insist that they will do continue to make music regardless of the money. The Dez Kuru production has garnered more than 370K views and continuing since release.
4.Ethic Entertainment – Chapa Chapa
For all Ethic fans out there, the mourning is over. As reported by Mdundo News, the group has dropped something hot to help us part ways with ‘Figa’. Ethic has dropped ‘Chapa Chapa’ for the broken-hearted. Ethic maintain their Gengetone wave on ‘chapachapa’. Like always Reckless intros the song with a smooth verse and hook. Zilla jumps on with a hilarious verse. Swat Mtoto Wa Eunice drops some fire bars but that’s not all. In the visuals to the song, we get to see Swat busting some moves as he raps to the banging Gengetone beat. Seska concludes the song with a two-verse finale.
5. Willy Paul – Chuchuma
One-time servant of Christ and award-winning Gospel musician Willy Paul has sunk to a new low. The artist who recently announced he neither identifies as secular nor gospel, made an open call to all women who have a voluptuous derriere, to contact him just last week. But little did we know that he would follow up the distasteful narrative with a shocking video. Willy Paul is lost, and the new release ‘Chuchuma’ is proof. Enough said.
Which other September release did you enjoy?
