The AFRIMMA Awards 2018 nominee list is out.
The prestigious continental awards brings Africa’s best acts to celebrate the continent’s biggest and baddest acts in the African music industry. From deejays to groups and solo artists, the annual awards seek to lift the profile of African music on the global stage. This year’s awards ceremony will take place in Dallas Texas, on the 7th October 2018.
Some of the major Kenyan acts nominated in the 5th edition of AFRIMMA are Sauti Sol nominated for “Best African Group,” Gloria Muliro and Willy Paul for “Best Gospel” and Arrow Boy for the “Best Newcomer” award.
On the “Best Female East Africa” Victoria Kimani and Akothee battle it out against Tanzanian Vanessa Mdee and others. DJ Joe Mfalme was also nominated for the “Best DJ Africa.” The hotly contested category “Video of the Year” will see Ali Kiba and Diamond Platinumz go head to head for the top award.
