The festival will be a two-weekend event set for June 25th -28th and July 2nd-6th.
This year’s event will be done virtually as a precautionary measure to curbing the spread of the Coronavirus.
Diamond becomes the third bongo star to take part in the festival after Rayvanny and Vannessa Mdee were invited last year. With this being the sophmore performance for the Kenyan quartet, they were keen to be part of the virtual show. According to a recent post, the group is over the moon to perform again. They wrote, “Here’s to another year, another chance to play for the #Essence crowd. It’s gonna be a very special virtual experience for the black culture.”
Earlier this year, Essence, a popular American magazine canceled the show and refunded fans for their tickets before opting for the digital version.
This year’s virtual concert will feature other segments on health, wealth, and power among other themes.
