Sauti Sol, Davido and Vanessa Mdee set to perform at Essence Fest 2019

Watch out America, here comes Sauti Sol.

Kenyan supergroup Sauti Sol is all set to take on the Essence Fest 2019 stage.  Essence Fest which is set for July 4th-7th, 2019, has been hyped as a celebration of black culture and art; featuring the best acts from across the globe; including the +254 act Sauti Sol.

The Kenyan foursome which was formed in 2005, released their first album “Mwanzo” three years later and has since made waves around their world with the eclectic sound. Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano, Savara Mudigi and ‘Fancy Fingers’ Polycarp Otieno just released their 4th studio album “Afrikan Sauce” on January 31st, 2019, receiving high praise for their comprehensive body of work.

“Cash Madame” singer Vanessa Mdee also among the featured acts, is more than elated by the news taking to Instagram to share her excitement.

The young Tanzania beauty was announced among the top acts to grace the Essence Fest 2019 stage. She will be in great company, with some of Africa’s best international acts including Nigerian Davido, Bongo star Rayvanny and South Africa rapper Nasty C set to feature in the festival’s superlouges. Among the African-American acts set for the cultural fest include RnB singer Ginuwine, the gifted Elle Varner, Jacquees and the legendary El Debarge.

The 3-day celebration Essence Fest is set to take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana. The annual event began in 1995 and has gained the reputation for being ” a party with a purpose” bringing together Africans in the diaspora to celebrate culture and art.
