The second edition of the Women in Film Awards was held on 10th March at the Kenya National Theater.

The event was co-hosted by Miss Brenda Nyambeki and Joseph Ochieng. The annual event saw 18 phenomenal women in the film industry awarded for their contribution and role in the film making. A departure from the inaugural event which was held in March last year, the second edition incorporated more categories including the ‘Best Assistant Director’ category.

Among the guests included chief guest Ms. Nadia Ahmed Abdalla who is the Chief Administrative Secretary for ICT, Innovation and Youth. She was accompanied by Dr. Mercy Mwangangi Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Health.

She also urged women not to shy away from acknowledging their strength and abilities even though societal norms tend to shrink the woman and added that it is important too for women to support male counterparts.
