Octopizzo just dropped his latest album, Fuego, a masterpiece that sees him continue his reign in the rape genre.
As he gears up for the album’s official physical launch, The Sauce caught up with him for a the lowdown on all things the new album, his Grammy consideration and all things music. “I am excited and it was an honor, but I am not thinking too much about it. I try to think of future tidings, like the follow-up to my latest project and try to avoid obsessing over fleeting things,” he said when asked of what he had n mind as regards the Recording Academy shortlisting his album Jungle Fever for possible nomination.
On which songs on Fuego are his favorites, the Oliel hitmakers had this to say: “I love all of the songs. I cannot choose any over the other. They are all my babies that I worked so hard to create.” The album has just a few collaborations, and he says he is not the biggest collaboration artiste, insisting he has it hard working with just anyone.
If you have not lived under a rock in the last almost a decade, you would know that Octopizzo and fellow rapper Khaligraph Jones have been at loggerheads and are synonymous with industry rivalry, sneak dissing each other on multiple songs. A few weeks ago, Jones posted a picture of the two together, eliciting mixed reactions. “We do not have a relationship. This is business and we do not have to. We had a long facetime call when I was in the US recently, catching up and all. It had nothing to do with music either. It is what it is,” he adds.
Has he listened to Jones’ latest installation of Khali Cartel? “No, I have not. So, I may not have any thoughts about it,” he intrepidly states.
Fuego’s official launch is slated for December 5 at The Alchemist.
