Rap king Khaligraph Jones and Afrobeat star Rudeboy release their Coke Studio collabo ‘Tonight’

Coke Studio Africa 2019 has officially released the video of ‘Tonight’, a collaborative effort by Kenyan rap king Khaligraph Jones and Nigerian hitmaker Rudeboy.

The song was produced during the 2019 edition of the show that was aired across Sub-Sahara Africa earlier in the year.

“This year we are all about telling stories through song and dance, and these music videos give us a very authentic African setting to bring the music we recorded on the show to life. As an asset, Coke Studio is committed to working with all players in the music industry across Africa to give the world a sound and a story from Africa,” said Andrew Alovi, IMC Manager – Coca-Cola.

Speaking about the video, Khaligraph could not hide his excitement and appreciation to Coke Studio. “I love music and I have a lot of respect for Rudeboy given his vast experience in the African music scene. When I was asked to cover his music I was a little apprehensive, mostly because I would not be rapping. However, the outcome was a dope track that exceeded my expectations and I thank my fans for urging me on. I am grateful to Coke Studio for understanding this and giving us the resources to shoot and deliver an awesome video,” he said.

The video lives up to the song’s theme and Coke Studio’s standards, with a set up by the beach and in a club, leaving viewers excited to join in the party and be part of the fun.

What’s more intriguing is the seamless flow of the music considering the different genres of music they both sing, showing their undeniable talents and love for music.

The duo was paired up during episode two of Coke Studio Africa 2019 with Rudeboy doing a cover of Khaligraphs’ song ‘Kasayole’ and the O.G getting out of his comfort zone to give a sentimental spin of Rudeboy’s song ‘Reality’.

Making his Coke Studio debut, renowned Kenyan producer, Magic Mike, produced this collaboration, a sure way to uphold his status.

This is the third music video produced by Coke Studio Africa, after releasing ‘Said’ by Nasty C & Runtown, followed by the all-girl ‘Switch It Up’ by Boity, Nazizi and Lioness.
