Last week the six-part documentary series “Surviving R.Kelly” came out and it shocked the interwebs.
RnB singer was trending after damning details emerged from the documentary series aired by Lifetime. The series included testimonials of women who gave chilling stories that the “Ignition” singer had abused physically, emotionally and sexually abused minors over the course of 15 to 20 years.
In 2008 R. Kelly stood trial in a child pornography case with a sex tape of him having sex with a 14-year-old girl as part of evidence but he was acquitted. Now thanks to the documentary series, R. Kelly is being criminally investigated in Georgia.
According to entertainment website TMZ, sources connected to the case say that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into allegations made against the singer in “Surviving R. Kelly.” We’re told the probe was launched over the past few days as a direct result of what the documentary depicted.
Investigators have been reaching out to several survivors featured in the TV project. TMZ added that the investigations have began, “We have confirmed investigators reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home.” Investigators have also been asking for contact information from others who have lived in Kelly’s former Atlanta home or have direct knowledge of what happened in the home.
R.Kelly has denied all allegations and has said he intends to sue everyone involved in the documentary, including the alleged victims.
