Hit show ‘Power’ returned to screens on Sunday night (25.08.2019) for the sixth and final season, but it seems that the show has already failed to impress fans, with the release of the first episode.
According to the Twittersphere, the highly anticipated sixth season of the 50 Cent-production ‘Power’ has a new theme song which features 3-time Grammy nominee Trey Songs and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The ‘Chi Chi’ singer’s vocals are complemented by Boogie as well as an interesting horn section that gives the track a complete refix for ‘Big Rich Town’. 50 explained earlier, “We wanted to offer new energy without conceptually changing it,” series co-creator and star told TV Guide. ” I even left four bars with the previous song because I was afraid to go [too far] away from it. It’s giving it a younger, fresher, vibe.”
However, it seems that the new theme song has received big backlash online, leading 50 Cent to re-consider the decision altogether. 50 asked fans if they even cared for Trey Songz’ abilities as an artist. He went on to question fans about the last time they bought a Joe album, pointing out they had no right to speak on the new soundtrack since they hardly supported Joe in the first place. Curtis went on to reveal “Trey did that sh*t as a favor for me man…y’all keep this sh*t up, I might just have to put that sh*t the way it was.”
The original theme song features ballad king Joe and 50 Cent, whose energies are unmatched; well that is according to most. The track also features an intriguing horn section that adds another layer of complexity to 50’s lyrical flow and Joe’s honey vocals.
