Pastor and proprietor of Cindy Trim Ministries International stirred up controversy with one of her latest sermons.
Trim, the Bermudian pastor declared that though “people maybe marrying because of love, I am marrying because of money.” The outrageous statement coming from the member of clergy gained popularity when Nigerian producer and music mogul Don Jazzy posted it on Instagram.
The comment section saw many criticise the pastor for perpetuating the materialistic and transactional view of marriage. Only recently engaged to a Nigerian herself, she declared “I made sure he was rich.” Known for her empowering talks, it seems that the message backfired on her as many reprimanded her.
As marriages out of convenience continue to rise, so does the rate of divorce. Needless to say, Pastor Trim may have exposed a trend in society that only leads to hurt and no love.
