The Nairobi Securities Exchange has launched the NSE Investment Challenge 2012, at the Daystar University, Nairobi Campus.
Commenting at the launch, Mr. Peter Mwangi, Chief Executive of the NSE, said: “The NSE Investment Challenge is our way of encouraging our youth to develop a culture of savings and investments, by demonstrating in a practical way how to buy and sell securities listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.”
Mr. Mwangi thanked the Vice Chancellor of Daystar University, Dr. Timothy Wachira for supporting the Challenge and for encouraging their students to participate in the Challenge.
“The 2010 and 2011 Investment Challenge winner has been Mr. Martin Wambua Kiilu, a Daystar University student.”
In order to ensure access to all, the NSE Investment Challenge is a web based online competition. Notably, this year the Challenge has also attracted youth from Europe and the United States of America.
For a period of three (3) months, each participant is given access to the NSE real time information and Kshs. 2 million virtual startup capital to invest in securities, listed on the NSE.
The winner is the team/individual considered by a panel of judges to have made the most sound investment decisions, the highest portfolio value and to have contributed in the online discussion forums.
The NSE extends our appreciation to this year’s official sponsor, Tutorial for Success, who share our vision of enhancing financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills amongst the youth. The winners stand to get cash prizes worth Kshs.200,000.00 to purchase listed securities on the Exchange and internship opportunities.
