We love Fridays for a lot of reasons. Being a kick-off to the weekend, the day spreads a cheerful vibe in most of us. Friday nights allow us to shake off the crazy week that is now behind us and unwind.

For some people, this means going out to clubs. Others like to stay at home. If this is what makes you happy, what can you do to have an eventful night?

1.Revamp your home

We get that decluttering and organizing a home may seem like a tedious boring task but it is a therapeutic adventure to some of us. This activity not only spruces up a home but it revives a soul. If you get a kick out of this, then it could be what you just need to usher in your weekend.

You could rearrange items around the house or decorate a wall with new accessories or go on a spring clean mode. Watching YouTube videos or listening to podcasts on home décor boosts up the experience. In the end, you have an improved home and a happy soul. Double win!

2.Cook or bake a new recipe

If you delight in dedicating a good amount of time to prepare sumptuous meals, this sounds like a fun Friday night hobby too. You can host a few close people over and hold conversations as you whip a meal. There are a variety of online recipes to follow. Food, people and laughter create lasting memories.

If your weekday schedule gives you little hours of sleep, a night of sleep could be all your mind, body and soul needs. Sleep is easily taken for granted yet its deprivation has many psychological effects. Tucking yourself in bed is a cool thing too.

4.Video chat with a friend

We cannot emphasize enough on the fact that technology has enabled us to easily connect with people from all over the world. Catching up with a friend living in another part of the world is something to look forward to for a Friday night. Depending on the time difference, schedule in a time that works for both of you.

5. Have a romantic date

Keep the relationship spark glowing with a date night. Cook a meal and take part in activities you both enjoy. Ideas include playing ‘question games’ to get to know each other, hold intimate conversations, do a puzzle together or simply let the night flow.

6. Nourish your soul

Immerse yourself in things that calm your mind and soul. These could be visualizing your life, exercising, listening to a manifestation video, viewing the stars, taking out your gratitude journal or sending a warm text to someone you love. Take pleasure in appreciating in these simple things that definitely raise your vibration.

7. Create artworks

Take time to engage in painting, moulding clay, making a piece of jewelry, knitting or any other art form. Art has a bonus of enhancing your creative thinking and memory, increasing the feel-good hormone dopamine, and nurturing emotional growth.

8. Treat yourself

How about setting up your own little spa at home? All it takes is nail polishes, feet and body scrubs, combs and oils. Pamper yourself with a homemade face mask, hair treatment, give yourself a pedicure or a manicure. You could also invite your friend to join in these cosmetic beauty treatments.

9. Go on a reading spree

There are probably books that you hope to finish reading. Or pick a book whose storyline grips your attention, you cannot afford to put it down for anything else in the world.

10. Host a movie night

Bring over the movie lovers in your circle. Pick an intriguing movie, serve snacks and enjoy your blockbuster night.

11. Take an online course

Free online courses are slowly becoming a trend in Kenya and internationally. Websites are coming up and you can learn anything on leadership, personal finances, history, languages, and so on. They take a number of your hours and you can learn when it is convenient for you. You will also receive a certificate upon completion.
