Lovebirds Diamond Platnumz and Tanasha Donna Oktech’s new release lacks one critical thing, originality.
The two who welcomed a baby boy together last year released their anticipated collaboration titled ‘Gere’ off Tanasha’s debut EP ‘Donnatella’ .
The song has been well received by fans who have acclaimed the couple for putting out such a great music video. The video is currently a top trending YouTube video in Kenya and garnered over a million views in 24 hours.
However, despite the great reception, some fans have exposed Tanasha and her Tanzanian baby daddy for copy-pasting the concept to their video from a Brazilian singer.
Similarities between Simba and Donna’s ‘Gere’ and Brazilian singer Iza’s ‘Brisa’ video are very conspicuous. The East African music power couple stole outfit, shoot location, set décor and arrangement ideas.
‘Brisa’ by 29-year-old Portuguese speaking Iza whose real name is Isabel Correia de Lima Lima was released on April 8th 2019. Brisa translates to Breeze in English and the song has amassed over 83 million views.
This is not the first time that the Bongo performer has been exposed for outrightly copying other people’s work.
In 2019 as reported by The Sauce, the father of four was accused of copying the concept to his video ‘Tetema’ ft Rayvanny from American rapper Tyler the Creator’s song, ‘See you Again’, which was released in August 2018. He was also blasted for stealing his hit ‘The One’ from a Namibian singer King TeeDee.
