Bimpe Onakoya is taking the world by storm.
The Nigerian makeup artist made her start in the fashion industry as a makeup artist 15 years ago, and began working with various designers at fashion weeks across the globe 4 years ago. The Naija artist was recently at New York Fashion Week; working closely with makeup line Maybelline.

Flown out and given special treatment by the mega brand; Onakoya’s artistry has allowed her access for of the most famed supermodels on the planet including Jordan Dunn, Alek Wek, Duckie Thot and Winnie Harlow and African stars including Minnie Dhalmini. Speaking about Onakoya’s recent stint at NYFW 2018, Refinery29 shared Onakoya is the first Nigerian makeup artist to key a show in the U.S. And she was excited to break barriers as the lead artist at LaQuan Smith this season.
Speaking on her future plans, Onakoya shared “I never felt like this kind of opportunity would ever open up for me in the U.S.,” she says. “It shows that all the years and hard work that I’ve put into my craft has finally been noticed, and that’s just gratifying.”
