This week has been a great week for music releases, an indication that the slower pace of self-isolation has lead to lots of creativity and reflection.
Here are some of our favorite releases this week:
- Drake – Tootsie Slide

The Toronto rapper gave fans a taste of what to expect from his hotly-anticipated follow-up to 2018 LP ‘Scorpion’ by unleashing the tracks ‘When to Say When’ and ‘Chicago Freestyle’ on SoundCloud earlier this month as reported, along with one music video for both songs, and he also released the song ‘War’.
‘Toosie Slide’ has already become a viral dance challenge on video sharing platform TikTok.The new tune – which looks to be a standalone release – was tentatively titled ‘Slide’ when it featured on influencer Toosie’s page on the app as well as on the Gram.
The track is already a bona fide chart-topper even before its official release.
2.Ty Dolla Sign featuring Nipsey Hussle, Cardi B – I Wanna Know
Ty Dolla $ign has teased an unreleased song featuring a posthumous appearance from the late rapper Nipsey Hussle and Cardi B. The hip-hop star was on Instagram Live with fellow rapper YG when he aired the track on the one-year anniversary of Nipsey’s tragic passing.

The ‘Racks In The Middle’ star was shot and killed outside his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles on March 31st 2019. Ty Dolla Sign is yet to confirm when and if the track will be officially released, but based the public’s response, the track would do very well.
3. DaBaby – Find My Way
DaBaby made his way into the scene in 2019 when his debut album ‘Baby on Baby’ peaked on the Top 10 Billboard charts. Since then, Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, has been making stellar moves in the rap game. His latest release ‘Find My Way’ is honest and riveting; a new perspective of the hardcore gangsta DaBaby is known as.
The track also features ‘Wild n Out’ comedian and entrepreneur B.Simone. Their off-screen romance plays into the Bonnie and Clyde plot-line of the video, making for some very entertaining visuals.
4. Tory Lanez – Do The Most
Canadian-born rapper, singer-songwriter Tory Lanez has a new track out dubbed ‘Do The Most’. It is a hype, high-energy release a departure from Lanez earlier work that featured more rhythm and blues. The track is part of the upcoming ‘New Toronto 3’ which is set for release on April 10th.
According to a report on Rap-Up, the ‘Chixtape 5’ crooner is determined to keep the momentum even while in self-isolation.
