Achieving financial freedom does not necessarily have to be a strenuous process. The difficult part is changing our mindsets, thoughts, and money spending habits. Trying to keep up with the lifestyle and trends that we know we cannot afford nor maintain, s one of the primary reasons why the youth cannot be financially free.
Fortunately, we are the captains of our own ship. We can choose to turn things around as far as financial freedom is concerned. While it may not be as easy as it sounds, we can try and ignore our urge of recklessness. It’s never too late to turn over a new leaf. It is always good to get to the root of what hinders us from attaining the financial freedom we deserve.
Here are some reasons that hinder financial freedom:
1.Social Norms
Our quest as youths to keep up with what others have is our biggest downfall. The more we chase after things we do not need the more the urge for spending persists. We need to know trying to fit in in order to please others, does not lead to enduring happiness.
2.Lack of financial discipline
Saying “No” when everyone else is saying yes is the hardest thing to do. We are caught up in a cycle of spending like there is no tomorrow, with time we find ourselves in debt and depression. Set yourself free from pleasing others, prioritize in your happiness. Invest your money to secure your future despite your age.
3.Attracting Debt
Whenever you take a loan to get yourself the fancy things in life just to maintain some kind of status, know you are depriving your future of financial freedom. Stop creating an unnecessary burden in the name of being cool. A lot of young people are even afraid to meet friends simply because they are drowning in debt. That’s no way to live. Decide to make a difference, flee from debts if you can, life is always beautiful when you are debt free.
4.Having no purpose
You should have a clear mind as to why you are saving, otherwise, if you have no reason to save. Where there is no clarity, there is no vision and purpose. Anyone without a vision lacks a sense of direction and can be misled by things and people. To avoid disappointed align yourself with your goals.
It’s time for the youth to try and attain financial freedom. It comes with a lot of sacrifice and commitment and mostly setting goals that lead to financial dependence. Nothing comes easy, so plan to succeed in securing your financial future.
