More Than Beer: Kenyan stars shine at the jam-packed 2019 Tusker OktobaFest

It’s no lie that Kenya is a hotbed of talent and the 2019 Tusker OktobaFest was just the place to showcase various Kenyan artists and deejays.

The two day 2019 Tusker OktobaFest held at the Ngong Racecourse on Saturday (05.10.19)  and  Sunday (06.10.19) was more than just a beer festival as it incorporated Kenyan music with an all Kenyan line-up, Sports with Touch Rugby and Football as well as food provided by various vendors.

Aside from a few technical hitches, numerous theft reports and bhang smoking at the event during these two days, Tusker Oktobafest is being hailed as the best ever all Kenyan show and there was no shortage of beer.

On Saturday Kenyans came out in large numbers to the event. There were the Cider Garden and Tusker Lite glow party stages which had some Kenyan disc jockeys like Capital FM’s Dj Adrian, Dj Coco Em, Suraj and Dj Redbone on the decks. The Beer Garden featured artists like Karun, ‘Spicy Season’ hitmaker Vallerie Muthoni, heavily pregnant Phy and Tetushani. The main stage was the place to be as it consisted of music to suit both the young and old party-goers fancy. Gengetone stars Ethic, Sailors gang, Chris Kaiga and Ochungulo family thoroughly entertained fans. Legendary singer Juacali and award-winning Sauti Sol shut down the night with epic performances.

On Sunday it was no different as the event came to a close. Popular Kenyan acts Nadia Mukami, H_art the band, Khaligraph Jones and Nyashinski went all out.  Capital FM’s Dj Joe Mfalme was the highlight of the night as he entertained the throngs of people who had turned up for the event with fire live mixxes. The Beer Garden came to life with performances by Makadem and top Kikuyu musician Samidoh.

Other artists who performed at the event include, Sol Generation’s Nviiri the Storyteller and Bensoul, Fena, The Kansoul, Dj Hypnotique, Dj Bash, Blinky Bill, DJ Taio and Capital FM’s Dj Protege.
