According to the provisional results released by Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Mwirigi has won the seat of Member of Parliament for Igembe South.Vying against Jubilee Party’s Joseph Miriti Mwereria in a hot campaign to the run up to the ballot, Mwirigi won garnering 39 per cent of the votes cast translating to 18,659 votes.

Key points of his manifesto include building roads, improving water supply and investing. Though it is difficult to say what will be first on his agenda, many constituents patiently wait to see what the young changemaker will fulfil during his time in office.
Meru County also produced the youngest Member of Parliament in the 11th Parliament. Boniface Kinoti Gatobu was elected in the 2013 election at the tender age of 26.
