Mercy Masika has received a high honor with a special invite to the 67th USA National Prayer Breakfast.
The National Prayer Breakfast which is set to take place in Washington D.C will see several dignitaries and American officials congregate to build relationships. According to research, the prestigious event that has happened since its inception in 1953, has a guest list that features international invitees from 100 countries. Sen. James Lankford from Oklahoma explained in a CBN News report, that “It is a moment that’s been set aside for decades to pause, to pray, to reflect and to be able to challenge each other.” The 67th edition of the National Prayer Breakfast will break from tradition, fronting a different agenda. It is reported that “In addition to US presidents, leaders from around the world and of various faiths are also invited to attend the breakfast,” including the Kenyan Gospel musician Mercy Masika.
Taking to social media, the “Mkono wa Bwana” singer shared her excitement over the special invite. According to reports from the local press, Mercy will also perform at the KCFA Community Service and CITAM USA respectively. Already in Washington, Masika has shared images of her enjoying her experience. Hobnobbing with some of the world’s most powerful individuals, Masika has taken the chance to represent Kenya not only with her presence but also her fashion choices. Dorning a colorful coat by Kenyan high-end designer Peggie O, she was styled by the famed stylist Brian Babu for the outfit of the day.
Mercy is among the many Kenyans to make a conscious choice to promote Kenyan fashion houses while abroad in the recent past. “Rafiki” director Wanuri Kahiu and Patricia Kihoro donned lots of Kenyan brands for the duration of their stay in France during the Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
