The trailer is out for the latest Martian Effects film ‘Heart Strings’. The animated local production co-produced by 2018 Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 nominee Huston Malande, will be the first 3D animated short film developed entirely by a Kenyan animation firm – Martian Effects (MFx) Limited.
The 7-minute short animation film is set to showcase in the Green City under the Sun, Nairobi later in mid-2020. The story examines two lead characters as they endure their own routine, lonesome, and uneventful lives until their paths cross by accident. The duo slowly discovers that sometimes, the things we need the most may come to us from the most unexpected of places. As life would have it, the world of a homeless single mother and young restaurant cashier collide and are brought together by an unexpected turn of events. Tagging at the heartstrings of the audience, the animated film is a sweet, complex story as past, present and future merge in this touching story.
This short film is a compelling, multiple-layered story, created and animated in Kenya, with an original score composed by Global Harmonics. An expert crew of animators and storytellers directed by Gaitano Mbati made up the MFx team.
The team has shared behind the scenes content on the making of the animation project. From concept to execution, the animation film has been a herculean undertaking, with many anticipating the full project’s release.
