Machakos county is a hot bed of natural beauty!

Beyond the natural phenomena of rivers defying the Law of gravity by flowing upstream, Machakos county has some of the hidden treasures in Kenya. First of all, the people are very friendly. Then there’s also the beauty of the sunsets behind Ngong Hills than can be seen from some sections of this county.

Machakos is also a melting pot of cultures. Most population is comprised of Kamba’s but there is a number of Maasais, Gabra, Somalis, Luo’s and much more. This shows the tolerance level of the people of this county.

The adventure starts at the Mto Wa Mawe bridge. The river is full of rocks just as the name suggests. It floods when it rains heavily. Large catfish can be found here. They are so tasty you’d want more. The prices are also affordable.

Just past the Green park Estate, a vast landscape of savanna with the Lukenya Hills acting as its protectors wows you. The Hills look like a gate or a god’s lounge chair.

Portland fields act as Quad bike training challenges. They also house beauty of picnics and backgrounds for those natural looking pictures (without Photoshop). The clean air and music of birds are enough to make you stay.

We all have seen those beautiful night sky in movies. Well, why not camp out and enjoy watching firefly lit dinner with your loved ones, a bonfire or just a walk. No music just listen to nature. Beware this is still the wild so watch out lest you form the menu of a wild animal 🙂

Lukenya Getaway, Manzoni Lodge are some of the breathtaking getaways that are found in this great county.

Machakos town offers a taste of city life in the wild.
