Lupita Nyong’o has always had the full support of her parents, and this weekend was no different.
Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has been spending the weekend with her parents and bonding kick off on International Women’s Day as she and her mother attended the She Inspires Me Twitter brunch. Taking to Twitter, Lupita shared images of her and her mother enjoying the festivities. She wrote, “Celebrating #InternationalWomensDay with my mom at @Twitter‘s #SheInspiresMe brunch! Thank you for having me, and special thanks to the students who came out…the future is yours!
On 9th March 2019, the Kenyan belle took her folks to the Us Movie Global premier at South by South West Film Festival. Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and his wife Dorothy Nyong’o were in attendance, proud to stand by the Hollywood movie star whom they call their daughter. This was not the first time her parents accompanied her to a monumental moment in her career, with the first being when she picked up the Oscar award for Best Actress in her role in ’12 Years A Slave’
The ‘Us’ movie cast was also present including ‘Us’ director, the talented Academy Award-winning Jordan Peele. Speaking to Variety, Peele explains, “This movie is about this country,” Peele said. “And when I decided to write this movie, I was stricken with the fact that we are in a time where we fear the other: whether it is the mysterious invader that we think is going to come and kill us and take our jobs, or the faction that we don’t live near that voted a different way than us. We’re all about pointing the finger, and I wanted to suggest that maybe the monster we really need to look at has our face. Maybe the evil is us.”
The trailer which took many by surprise is even more thrilling, scarier than what most expected. According to Vulture, the movie is “a home invasion thriller paired with a more vast and ambitious science fiction conceit.” Lupita stars alongside Winston Duke in what has been hailed as one of the most thrilling films to be released in years.
