The Long & Short of the Grammys

The 58th Grammy were held on the night of the 15th of February at the Staples Centre, Los Angeles.

The who’s who in the music scene showed up dressed to the nines full of expectations to be among the lucky winners to walk away with a Grammy. Though many were nominated, only a few received the coveted award. Highlights of the nights included Kendric Lamar’s big wins, Justin Bieber walking the red carpet with his adorable small brother and of course the Taylor Swift response to Kanye after Yeezy included Swift’s name in some raunchy lyrics.

Major performances of the night included Kendric Lamar, Adele, Miguel and even an epic Lionel Richie tribute by John Legend, Demi Lovato, Megan Trainor and Tyrese . The night’s biggest winner Kendric Lamar set the tone for hip hop and the genres creative scope in the coming year. Kendric Lamar was nominated for a total 11 categories and won 5 most of which were in the rap category. The lyric mastermind managed to combine spoken word, funk, soul and jazz into his latest album To Pimp A Butterfly and his artist flow showed in his onstage performance at the Grammys.

The other big winners of the night included Taylor Swift for Album of The Year, Record of the Year went to “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson Feat. Bruno Mars and “Thinking Out Loud” by musical genius Ed Sheeran won in the category Song of The Year. The glamorous night was a great reflection of the music scene and the talent on offer.
