The ex-fiancé to former TV siren Jacque Maribe has today (13.02.2020) has been released on a Kshs 2 million cash bail.
The High Court allowing his renewed application for bail after two failed attempts. Justice Wakiaga said no compelling reasons had been given to deny him bail adding that all the key witnesses had testified.
Irungu was initially declined bail on October 30, 2018, Justice James Wakiaga at the time freeing now ex-fiancé and television journalist Jacque Maribe on bail. The judge cited the possibility of Jowie absconding future appearances and lack of a known physical address.
Justice James Wakiaga has also ordered him not to comment on the murder case.
This is some reprieve for murder suspect Joseph Irungu alias Jowie following public outcry over his bail denial whilst his fellow murder suspects with power and influence got cash bails.
Jowie has been in jail for the last 16 months following his arrest over the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani in August 2018.
Jowie’s long time friend and former Capital FM producer is leading a fundraising on Twitter to help Jowie post his bail.
