8. Boniface Mwangi

Activist turned politician, the artist known for his moving photographs decided to change up the face of leadership in Kenya and run for public office. A young father to three, the artist has had a long road to realizing his potential to run for the office of MP Starehe Constituency.  Awarded the Multichoice Africa Photojournalist of the Year 2010, Boniface is all about action and aptly uses social media to spur change. He has 255,962 likes on Facebook.

 

7.Evans Kidero

Current Governor for Nairobi Evans Kidero entered into public office in 2013. Now seeking re-election the 60-year-old politician has managed to use social media to keep the electorate informed on his achievements during his term.The former CEO of Mumias Sugar Company, the incumbent has 417, 161 likes on Facebook.

A contender for the highest seat in the city of Nairobi, Peter Kenneth has garnered exposure on the campaign trail in the Gubernatorial race to the City Hall. Former Kenya Reinsurance Company Managing Director, Kenneth has also held previous administrative positions as Assistant Minister for Finance 2005-2007, as well as Assitant Minister for Cooperative Development and Marketing 2003-2005. He has 513,881 likes on Facebook.

 

5.Ali Hassan Joho

Incumbent Governor for Mombasa is known for his stand in politics. Known as the “Sultan of Mombasa” by supporters, Joho is no stranger to scandal that shrowds many involved inpolitics. Former Member of Parliament for Kisauni 2008-2013, Joho currently has 684,106 likes on Facebook.

 

4. Raila Odinga

Running for president for the second time, Raila Odinga is using social media to reach the masses. The former Prime Minister is best known to his supporters as “Agwambo” or “Baba Yao” leads the NASA Coalition to the highest seat in the land. With a long political career, he has garnered  868,801 likes on Facebook.

Deputy President, William Ruto entered the game of politics in 1992, as a youth organiser for the Youth for Kanu group created that year. Since then he has held various ministerial positions including Minister for Agriculture 17 April 2008 – 21 April 2010 and Minister for Higher Education 21 April 2010 – 19 October 2010. The 50-year-old seems tech savvy using social media to reach his supporters. He has 982,851 likes.

 

2.Sonko Mbuvi

It is no surprise that Sonko takes the second spot on the list. Known for being a man of the people, Sonko’s team have mastered how to use social media to reach out to the public. Furthering his agenda through social media, Sonko has gained approximately 1,157,343 likes on Facebook.

 

1. Uhuru Kenyatta

Head of State, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Uhuru Kenyatta tops the list.. With over 3 million likes on his official Facebook account, H.E President Kenyatta comfortably sits at the top almost five times the account likes of other notable politicians such as Ali Hassan Joho. He currently has 3,125,644 likes.
