“Blessings” crooner Chance the Rapper attended the Dillard University graduation ceremony this past week. The Grammy-winning artist gave the graduating class of 2018 life and career advice as the keynote speaker of the graduating ceremony.
The social activist who noted that he missed out on his high school graduation was also recognized for his social efforts with an honorary doctorate degree, bestowing him with the title of “Doctor.”
The Chicago-native had lots to share with the young leaders about greatness and the restrictions of fear.
Here are a few outtakes from his commencement speech:
1. Never set any limitations on your greatness
“Learn to horn your craft” and be great.
2. Erase the fear and stigma of eclipsing your biggest hero
“Do not strive to live up your ancestors’ standards, strive to surpass them… the difference between good and greatness is the ability to push beyond.”
