KU stroll past Parklands into men’s hockey premier league

It was song and dancefor Kenyatta University after their hockey side earned promotion to the elite league.

Four years ago Strathmore University Gladiators’ became the first academic institution to win back-to-back top flight league titles.

The Vultures downed Parklands to become the first ever public university to secure a slot in the Kenya Hockey KHU men’s premier league.

Butthey needed penalty flicks to emerge national champions after the match had ended in a 1 – 1 draw. Kenyatta were the first to score in the 4th minute through Job Simiyu befores econd half Captain Owen Oduor levelled for Parklands with seven minutes left.

ShadrackRuto said it was a dream come true for the team which has been dreaming of playing in the premier league for a long time.

“This is the best weekend of my life! Winning the national league was a great achievement but being named MVP in the nationwide league tops it all.

“I thank God, coach WalterOnyango, teammates, friends and fans of the Mighty Vultures’ for the votes of confidence…next season I will be back stronger for the cause,” said the player.
