The month of April has seen some great video releases from Kenya’s top artists. Their release saw things heat up online, these club bangers are the perfect soundtrack to fire up the crowd at any club.
1.Kangwe Mungai, Blinky Bill, Fena, Mayonde and Muthoni Drummer Queen-
“Party Nation”
Among the top releases is a mega collaboration by Kangwe Mungai, Blinky Bill, Fena, Mayonde and Muthoni Drummer Queen. The track titled “Party Nation”captures an electro-benga fusion sound. Starting off with Fena taking over the beat, she is phenomenal as always, dropping bars that murder the beat. Mayonde brings her angelic melodies and off course Blinky Bill’s unique sound is unforgettable. It’s difficult to not respond to the beat with a little jig. Sonically, the track is peppered with what sounds like a vuvuzela and robot’s startup tone. No matter the first impression, the track ensures listeners have the track on repeat.
2. Kristoff (Mluyha wa Busia) – Umeniwahi
Kristoff is back on a solo release, after a successful collaboration with female rapper Femi One . The track “Umeniwahi” new video provides the perfect escape for many of Nairobi’s dwellers who face cloudy, rainy days in April as it gives off some Caribbean vibes. The track may not necessarily be at the top of the game since the lyrics feature lots of repetition, but what stands out most is the top notch video. The story telling and videography is as good as it gets. Kristoff has been putting in a lot of effort into his music and could soon surpass some of Kenya’s more established acts.
3. Timmy T Dat, Sudi Boy – Zile Mbili
A catchy tune, the track structured to be a club banger. The track released online on April 20th has over 20,000 views online. Timmy known for controversial tracks and comedic lyrics, brings the same talent onto the track with Tanzanian star Sudi Boy. The video is colorful and full of life though the story telling does lack direction. Overall the track is can keep audiences on their feet all night long.
4. Harmonize & Rich Mavoko – Show Me
Harmonize delivers bongo flavor by the bucket-load in his latest release “Show Me”. Paired with Rich Mavoko, the track is an easy listen that eases the audience to the dance floor. The colorful video released is reminiscent of AY& Diamond Platinumz “Zigo.” The track is the song to dance to, as is sang in the lyrics “sakata dance…show me vile unavyo dance”
