Media personality and actor Nick Ndeda is now a single man.
Ndeda, formerly at Kiss FM, and his ex-girlfriend Muthoni Gitau, who is a Youtube content creator, jointly made the announcement on Monday, July 5, 2021.
According to the former couple, they released the video to tell their side of the story and to avoid speculation about their relationship. They cited the need to fulfill different goals as their reason for breaking up.
Ndeda says the duo initially shared goals when they started dating but along the way they’ve decided to pursue their goals ‘differently’.
“You (Muthoni) were very aggressive chasing personal goals plus the shared goals, I was a little bit on the lax side especially with the shared. Even to a certain extent, I neglected my personal goals,” said Ndeda.
The duo says the decision to separate took them three months and involved seeking professional help.
“It (the decision) was not made overnight. It has been three months of thinking and talking to professionals. There are also certain outside factors that have contributed to the decision. There are also certain people that made the decision very easy, certain people… I know they are watching so that they can make phone calls, do it!” Muthoni said.
Muthoni, 30, started dating the ‘18 Hours’ actor when she was 23 and now she can’t wait to date again as she has never really experienced dating. She also revealed that she will be moving into the house they got together a couple of months ago once the renovations are complete.
“ I haven’t dated much, this was my third serious relationship. I feel that is something I want to go and explore,” she said.
Kenyans on Twitter did not hold back their comments after the video went live. While some sympathised with the couple’s break up, some were savage in their responses and trolled him.
Many Kenyans claimed that Nick was hot over heels in love with Muthoni and had bent himself over backwards for her during their 7-year relationship.
The former radio presenter also addressed claims that he was being manipulated by his ex-partner.
“There is a single video or thing that I did in the 7 years we were together that I did because I was forced to. Muthoni is a great woman and just because we aren’t together now is no reason for the rude insensitive and dumb comments.
“Like we said, we were just letting you know. Whatever random mess you thin you know that’s on you,” he posted on Twitter.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Nick addressed claims that the content creator made him get a vasectomy.
“One final thing on this matter, I did not get a vasectomy for her. I did that for me because I also do not want kids. Any other questions, not up for debate or discussion,” the post read.
In a past vlog on YouTube, the two who pride themselves for having had an unconventional relationship revealed that they did not intend to have children.
Ndeda revealed that they will remain friends but he will not be appearing on the YouTube channel again. The YouTube content creator also changed her channel to Just Doing Life with Muthoni Gitau and removed Nick’s pictures.
