Kenyans have been waiting with utter bated breath this past weekend for the government and Ministry of Health to announce whether the curfew would grind to a halt or continue.
While no announcement happened for the course of the weekend, Monday morning saw the health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe come bearing quite the disappointing news for many Kenyans.
Making the announcement, the CS confirmed that the government has extended the nationwide curfew by a further 30 days, a decision they attribute to a high COVID-19 positivity rate. As such, the curfew hours still remain between 10pm-4am.
The CS made the announcement while speaking during the launch of the COVID-19 Online Information Portal for media professionals in Kenya. Other MoH measures still in place include the previously stipulated operation hours for bars and restaurants and the ban on gatherings.
