Mumbi Ndung’u 24, is the founder and Team leader at Ibua Africa. The young social change maker has been fortunate to receive a nomination for the Youth Empowerment Award from the prestigious Africa Youth Awards. Mumbi has encouraged youth empowerment across the continent with her work through Ibua Africa, making her a deserving recipient of Africa Youth Award 2016. Most notable fact is she is the only East African to do so in this particular category. Mumbi shared her excitement on the nomination on social media.

The Africa Youth Awards rewards deserving African youth making strides in bettering the continent through various initiatives. The initiative has included many notable Kenyans in the nominations list including Leanne Peris N Kimani for Female of The Year, Joel Macharia of Abacus for Male of The Year and Rose Wachuka- Dr. Amina Mohammed for Youth Leader of the Year. The winners will be announced on 1st January 2017 and awarded at the Heads of State Summit in Addis Ababa later in the year.
