Wawiru Njiru is on cloud 9.

The young woman who started the Food4Education program has made a great change in communities, earning her a prestigious Youth Leadership Award at the Global Leadership Mandela 100 stage. The just-concluded event saw Wawira honored by RnB legend Usher and Cisco’s CEO Chuck Robbins onstage; in front of thousands at the FNB stadium.

The feeding program feeds children in urban primary schools with heavily subsidized meals. The organization has served over 250,000 meals in 2018 alone. The feeding program so far has helped improve school attendance, performance and high school transition rates of children targetted by the program.
