First-time Kenyan racer Jeremy Wahome ensured Kenya was a strong contender in the fast paced sport of Formula car racing. The 16 year old successfully achieved three rookie wins, two second place finishes and one third place finish at the Formula BMW Asia Cup Series held at the world famous Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

“Participating in the Asia Cup series was a great experience for me as I got to learn a lot on and off the track. I enjoyed close wheel to wheel racing with my competitors, said Wahome.”

The rising race star effectively transitioned from his previous pursuits in Kart racing to Cars. Wahome began his first four races impressively in the first row and achieved his first ever Formula car podium finish. The races took place on the 28th to 30th of August 2015.

Being the first time he competed in the Asia Cup series, Wahome opted to participate in a one off round earlier in the year called the Super-Six. The Super-Six consisted of 6 races that were held on the 5th to 7th of June 2015. These races further prepared him for his first championship cup experience at the Formula BMW Asia Cup Series.

“I thank God for these results and for giving me the opportunity to chase my dream of becoming a Formula 1 world champion. I look forward to my upcoming races and promise for more to come,” said Wahome.

The Asia Cup series is a championship designed for young drivers seeking to transit from Kart racing to Cars as they gain ranks in the motorsport industry. The aim of these young racers is to ultimately gain entry into the world famous Formula One racing championships.

The Asia Cup championships consists of 15 races and 5 races per round. All the races take place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, this race track also hosts the Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix.
