Aaron who is regarded as one of Kenya’s pianists announced the good news to his fans on social media saying that he was beyond honoured and super thrilled that the show’s producers decided to pick his song from the project ‘ Deeper’ to be part of the TV series. He also asked people to go ahead and watch it. Family, friends and fans then proceeded to send in their congratulatory messages to Mr. Rimbui on this major milestone.
This is not the first time that a Kenyan song has been picked to feature on a major TV show, In 2017, Stella Nyambura’s track titled ‘Set It Off’ from her EP ‘Big Girl’ was featured on an episode of drama series ‘Being Mary Jane’ and shortly after Fox Networks clinched ‘Get Up & Go’ off the same EP to feature as a soundtrack on the second and final season of the Investigative series ‘Rosewood’.
In ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ iconic filmmaker Spike Lee revisits his first feature film with this Netflix original series of the same name. In the series, Brooklyn-based artist Nola Darling struggles to stay true to herself and her dreams while dividing her time between her friends, her job and her lovers, all three of them. That trio includes married businessman and father Jamie Overstreet, photographer and self-described “biracial Adonis” Greer Childs and chatty Michael Jordan fan Mars Blackmon. In addition to creating the series, Lee directs all the episodes and serves as an executive producer alongside wife Tonya Lewis Lee.
All episodes of Spike Lee’s joint ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ are available to watch on Netflix as they were all released on Friday 24th of May 2019.
