Sultry singer Victoria Kimani just scored a major win.
Her latest album Spirit Animal has been considered for a possible Grammy nomination.
Announcing the considered artistes in its 3rd annual Behind the Music initiative, the Recording Academy hailed them ahead of the nominations announcements for the 64th Grammy Awards, slated for November 23.
Victoria Kimani’s 4th album Spirit Animal made the list, which is no mean feat.
Released just a few weeks ago to massive critical acclaim, the singer’s album sees her get considered for the 2nd year in a row, after last year’s Afreaka. It is already her best body of work yet by music lovers and critics alike.
The album features top artistes like Yemi Alade, Bella Shmurda and Hart The Band.
Another Kenyan musician who made the list is popular budding singer Gabiro Mtu Necessary, for his new EP Jenesis, that dropped just over a week ago.
The Kisumu-based artiste is quickly becoming a household name in his hometown, Kenya and the continent.
The singer had announced he was contemplating quitting music weeks ago, but would later surprise fans with the new EP release.
Other artistes considered in this year’s Behind the Music initiative include American musicians Common, Jonas Brothers, K-Pop group BTS among others.
