Mayonde and Elvis who collaborated on a new track ‘Turn Up’.
The duo visited the Capital FM offices to discuss their latest collaboration, their process of working together and growing within the Kenyan music industry. Their voices melt into each other on the hype track and prove that there is artistry to creating your Friday ‘Turn Up’ track.
Mayonde who came to fame with her track ‘Isikuti Love’ in 2015, has continued to rise up working with various artists including longtime friend Trina Mungai on the track ‘Shike’, Stonee Jiwe on the 2017 release ‘Nairobi’ and Kagwe Mungai on ‘Kama Kawaida’. A former Coke Studio background vocalist, honey-voiced Mayonde pointed out that her time on the continental show taught her loads about work ethic and artistry.
Elvis Who is relatively new to the Kenyan scene. Being of Nigerian heritage, the talented Elvis mentioned that he is keen to fuse his native Nigerian afrobeat sound with popular Kenyanisms.
