Kenya Sends 36 Students to China To Study Railway Engineering

Kenya Railways will on Wednesday 22nd February 2017 hold a farewell ceremony for the second batch of students leaving for China under the CRBC/ SGR Capacity building scholarship program.

 

The scholarship program was launched by the President in March 2016 to train new railway engineers for the future sustainability of the Standard Gauge Railway system. Transport CS James Macharia and his PS Nyakera Irungu, CRBC General Manager Yang Jie, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa , Kenya Railways MD Atanas Maina and Chairman Jeremiah Kianga will be in attendance.

 

The 36 students will undertake a Bachelor’s degree course in Railway engineering for four years at Beijing Jiatong University.
