Karun Mungai drops “Roses” and reveals she was misunderstood in Camp Mulla

Karun Mungai has released her first solo release.

Former Camp Mulla member has not appeared in any video since her teen group days when their music “Party Don’t Stop” was released in 2011 and “Fresh All Day” was released in 2012. The group of five received many nominations including  MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act and BET Award for Best International Act: Africa.

Now an independent artist, Karun is releasing her evolved sound much to the public’s delight. The mother of one has had quite the journey to this debut solo release, but she seems to be relishing every moment and enjoying her journey into self-discovery.

However, although this is a turning point in Karun’s career, she could not help but clear the air about her past with Camp Mulla. She took to Instagram to thank her support group and also highlighted a few things she thought her true fans should know. Sharing a picture on the photosharing app, she captioned it, “….I’m super grateful to have worked with these guys to release my first ever solo music video. Waiting for 💎6 YEARS💎 before appearing in a music video was very intentional. I waited this long because I really wanted to; 🌟a) get it right, and 🌟b) I wanted to stop being misunderstood by people. ☀️The way I’m portrayed in #CampMulla videos is only ONE aspect of me, and I’m super happy to get to show you my evolved self right here for the very first time. 🤗💜💜…”

And thanks for agreeing to be our rent-a-boyfriend @randy_gowon 🤗 I think you made the video tbh. Also thank you @muthonidrummerqueen for pushing me to follow through with this video when I was convinced I would quit the music business earlier this year! We all need a kick in the butt to get out of our heads every once in a while, thank you for waking me up! 💜💜💜 I honestly don't think I would have had the strength to go through with all this without our talk that fateful Saturday. Thank you thank you! 🙂🙂 Ok I'm done with this long post guys!! Lol 💜💜 but I hope you like it!!
