Kanye West, Common join 850,000 protesters in gun control march

Kanye West’s father joined the rapper, Kim Kardashian West and their daughter North at a gun control rally in Washington DC on Saturday (24.03.18).

Kim and Kanye flew to DC with North on Saturday to take part in the student-led demonstration March for Our Lives, which was set up after 17 deaths in a school shooting in Parkland, Florida, last month, and Kim revealed that her father-in-law Ray West also joined them.

She shared a picture of Kanye and North on social media and wrote: “What an amazing day yesterday to take my daughter to Washington DC to see our future leaders speak. Having my daughter march along-side her grandfather and parents was a day I hope she remembers forever.”

The “March for our Lives” was organized to lobby against the gun violence and mass shootings. Organised by students, this is the second attempt made by students to gain the attention of lawmakers to enforce policy change in gun laws. The first rally was held all around the United States to commemorate the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School a month after it occurred on February 14th, 2018.  The rally held on the 24th of March saw over 850,000 people join the cause, as they marched lining the streets towards the National Mall.

Students also gathered in various states across America including Hawaii and Alaska. The movement hopes to encourage voter registration to equip more civilians to have more influence over policymaking.
