Huduma Namba registration is almost coming to a close, with the deadline set for Saturday 18th May. And in true Kenyan fashion, many have been waking before the break of dawn to line up to register for Huduma Namba as the deadline draws near. However, it has become apparent that the involvement of the youth in the government-mandated exercise, is heavily influenced by their parents.
According to Kenyans on Twitter, their uptake of Huduma Namba might have solely been determined by their parents. Prompted by a tweet from Capital Lifestyle editor Vinnie O; tweeps have revealed their hesitations and the sudden urgency to take up the controversial number.
How much do you think your parents are being paid for this Huduma Influencing? Their determination is strong my friends

One tweet points out “my dad called yesterday about this. I thought I was alone kumbe tuko wengi!” And it seems that the lengths to which parents will go to have their millennial offspring registered are shocking.

Becoming the central topic of discussion, the registration is unavoidable for many. One Twitter user pointed out, “Nowadays every conversation I have with my mum ends with me getting a lecture on why I’ve not taken huduma number…” Some parents have even used the unborn as leverage to register for the number. A tweep said, ” Man!! wacha tu… “Even topics on marriage pop up!! Hauchkui na haujaoa? Chukua tu angalau mtoto akue Mkenya.”

However, it seems that whether we may want it or not, most millennial youths have little say on their uptake of the Huduma Namba, especially when parents have been relentless in reminding many to do so.
Have you taken your Huduma Namba?
