JKUAT beats ANU in Uni baseball tournament

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) baseball team eclipsed the current national champions Africa Nazarene University to clinch the title that was held at Egerton University, Nakuru.
First match of day one, between ANU Crusaders and the host Egerton in which The Crusaders easily won by 14 runs to 5.
Match two was between the Crusaders ladies and the Egerton ladies and 4 runs separated the two in a match that ended 14 – 18 in favour of Egerton.
The third match involved MMU Stormers up against ANU Crusaders, which saw the first home-run of the tournament by MMU’s Ken Waithaka. The stormers put up a spirited fight against the Crusaders but the national champions won the match by 26 runs against MMU’s 24 runs.
Match four was between JKUAT Wisdom and Egerton in a one sided match that JKUAT easily won by 21 runs to 3 and Martin Mwendo of Wisdom hit a home-run second of the tournament. In the last match of day one, ANU Ladies met JKUAT ladies who easily thrashed them by 23 runs to 8.
Day two saw JKUAT Wisdom start off with MMU Stormers in a very tight match that saw Wisdom win by 2 runs as the match ended  9 -7.
Then came the determining match in the ladies category between JKUAT and Egerton as they had both won all their previous matches. It took a 1 run difference to determine the winner of the tournament as JKUAT narrowly won by 5 runs against Egerton’s 4 runs, to be crowned champions.
Match 8 between MMU Stormers and Egerton saw Eliud Kamau of Stomers and Sisco Kipkoech of Egerton both register a home-run each for their teams in a match that MMU won with 22 runs against Egerton’s 11.
Last match of the tournament between the favorites; Two time and current National Softball League champions and two time Nairobi league champions, the Crusaders up against the current Nairobi league champions and two time National Softball league champions, JKUAT Wisdom versus the Crusaders.  But JKUAT proved to be the better side as they edged out Crusaders by 18 runs to 7 and were crowned the champions.

    Hey that’s Good News..I was one of the pioneers of Baseball/SoftBall in JKUAT in 2009. Learning that they have flown to such heights is Brilliant. Congrats Guys n Keep It Up.
