The New Yorker is now taking steps to trademark the animation character from his recent album 4:44. The character of Jaybo was the center of attention in the track “Story of O.J” which garnered lots of attention. A commentary on the life of a black man, the artistic, revolutionary track quickly rose to the top of the charts. In a time where social consciousness is a necessity for most rappers, Jay-Zexemplified the modern and woke rapper of the 21st Century.

According to NYDailyNews, “the Jaybo trademark will allow JAY-Z’s company, S. Carter Enterprises, to use Jaybo for a wide range of merchandise including T-shirts, hats, mugs, tote bags, bumper stickers, candles, diaper changing mats, pocket watches and more. One trademark request also gives JAY-Z, 48, the exclusive rights to use Jaybo in films and television series.”
