Issa Rae’s show ‘Insecure’ is set to shoot and air its last season.
For the millions of fans worldwide, the show has had record viewership since the first season aired in 2016 under the HBO network. 5 years later, the show is still going strong even as it was announced the 5th season would be its last.
As reported, the single-camera comedy series, Insecure stars Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales, Kendrick Sampson, and Alexander Hodge. The TV show centers on friends Issa (Rae), Molly (Orji), Lawrence (Ellis), and Tiffany (Seales) as they deal with their own real-life flaws. They attempt to navigate different worlds and cope with an endless series of uncomfortable, everyday experiences. In season four, Issa pursues a passion project she actually cares about and Molly navigates a real relationship for the first time. Meanwhile, their friend Lawrence figures out what leveling-up means for him, and Tiffany’s baby changes the dynamic of the friend group.
“Prentice [Penny] and I are so grateful that HBO believed in our show from the beginning and kept faith in us to see our vision through the end,” Issa Rae told Deadline of the news. “We always planned to tell this story through five seasons, but we couldn’t have made it this far without the tremendous support of our audience. I feel blessed beyond measure to bring our characters’ stories to an end, on-screen at least.”
As fans hold out hope that the last season will be 45 minutes each per episode, it is expected to have more thrills will feature as we see characters’ story-lines tied up as the book closes on the Insecure franchise.
